Installation & Compatibility

Is my vehicle compatible with the Thor system?

The system is compatible with many petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles equipped with a CAN-BUS (from 2005 onwards). Installing the system requires sufficient space under the vehicle (to fit the speaker(s)).

Can the Thor system be installed on an electric car?

Yes, Thor is compatible with electric vehicles manufactured after 2005, offering them a sound experience similar to that of a combustion engine vehicle.

Can I install the system myself?

Installation can be done by yourself if you have experience in automotive electronics and the proper tools.
However, we strongly recommend having the system installed by a professional or directly at Thor Tuning Belgium to ensure full warranty coverage.

Is the installation reversible?

Yes, the system can be removed without causing any permanent damage to the vehicle — ideal if you wish to transfer it to another compatible vehicle.

System Operation

Is it an external speaker?

Yes. The Thor system uses one (or two) external speakers mounted under the vehicle to produce a realistic and powerful engine sound.

Does the sound change based on acceleration?

Yes. Thanks to the connection to the vehicle’s CAN-Bus, the sound automatically changes according to engine RPM and speed.

Is the sound audible inside the vehicle?

Absolutely. Even though the speaker is placed outside, the Thor system is designed to provide a realistic and immersive sound experience.
The driver clearly hears the sound inside the cabin, enhancing the sporty driving sensation.
In fact, this is one of the system’s key strengths: restoring driving pleasure through powerful, responsive sound.

How do I control the Thor system?

Everything can be controlled via the Thor app (iOS/Android): sound selection, volume, activation/deactivation, etc.
You can also assign a sound to a driving mode and use standard vehicle buttons to control the system.

Does the system work without an internet connection?

Yes. Once installed and configured, the system works without internet access.
The app communicates with the control unit via Bluetooth.

Regulations & Legality

Can I use this system on public roads?

In most cases, its use is fully compatible with normal driving.
However, some local regulations may restrict the use of active sound systems on public roads.
We simply recommend checking the applicable laws in your country.

Is the Thor system approved (homologated)?

The Thor system is an add-on device designed to enhance the driving sound experience without modifying the original exhaust system.
It neither replaces nor alters existing components, making it a well-integrated solution.
In most cases, no specific approval is required.
However, we advise checking local regulations if you are unsure.
